Climate Consciousness at West Way

With the worsening impact of the ongoing climate crisis, we strongly believe it is important that, as a business, we need to make changes to combat the crisis.

West Way are continuously striving to become more climate conscious, and as a result, we are constantly adopting new methods of business which allow us to have as little impact as possible on our environment and reduce our carbon footprint. 

We currently have a number of practices in place at all of our Dealerships and Business Centre's to ensure that we can reduce our carbon footprint as much as possible.


Going paperless

Our sales process can now happen a lot quicker and easier, and has become simpler as we have gone completely paperless. During a sale, we will send our customers all of their relevant documents electronically to sign and keep. 

This also helps with online buyers as it means they won't need to drive down to one of our dealerships just to sign some papers - further helping our planet, by reducing carbon emissions. 

We have also been promoting booking and online check-in's to our service and MOT customers, meaning they haven't had to fill out unneccessary paperwork!

Electric Vehicles 

Where possible, we aim to promote the use of the Nissan LEAF, our award-winning electric vehicle(EV). When a customer is booked in for a service and needs a courtesy car, we try to offer them an electric alternative, which will produce no carbon emissions. 

A number of Nissan's model lineup will now and in the future include a number of electric models which include the Nissan ARIYA and Townstar which are now available to order along with the Qashqai e-Power and Juke hybrid which will be available in the near future. 

We have also installed charging points at all 13 of our dealerships, which are available for any member of the public to use. 

Reduce - Reuse - Recycle 

Where possible, we aim to abide by the famous three R's.

Although we have gone paperless at all of our dealerships, we do still produce some waste. With all of our waste, we aim to try and find ways to reuse it, but where that isn't possible, we will ALWAYS recycle.

Carbon offsetting with RCI

Nissan are supporting RCI financial services on their carbon offsetting project, where they are aiming to protect threatened forests and animals. This project also supports indigenous communities to 'develop productive economic activities based on sustainable use of forest resources and protect'.

The efforts made within this project have so far restored 480 ha of deforested land, and have prevented 2.8 million tonnes of CO₂.

Ambition 2030

This strategy, which is known as 'Ambition 2030' outlines Nissan's long-term vision for empowering mobility and beyond. The plan was created in response to critical environmental, societal and customer needs, and it will also allow Nissan to become a truly sustainable company, driving towards a cleaner, safer, and more inclusive world. 

Nissan's plan is to deliver exciting and diverse electrified vehicles and technological innovations to the public. West Way is highly supportive of this strategy as electric vehicles will become more widely available and accessible for the wider public, and most importantly, our customers, which means the road to 2030 will be a much smoother transition. 

Ambition 2030 will also support Nissan's goal of becoming carbon neutral by fiscal year 2050.
