CHARGING

Where can I charge my LEAF and how long does it take to charge?

Charging points can be located at any one of West Way's Nissan dealerships and at over 30,000 public locations throughout the UK, including IKEA stores, supermarkets and motorway service stations. You need not worry about traveling on motorways either, as network charging points have been installed on 97% of motorway routes! There are also specific rapid charge points, where your electric vehicle can be charged to 80% in 30 minutes whilst you are out and about.

In addition, you can take advantage of a 16-amp home charger unit, which will provide the Nissan LEAF with a full charge in 8 hours. For the full information and facts about charging your EV please take a look at our Nissan LEAF charging guide.

RANGE

Is it easy to keep track of a battery level and range?

Yes, the in-car computer display will monitor this for you. The NissanConnect EV, which allows you to turn your LEAF on to charge, turn on the climate control and monitor the battery level and range is available to download on Android, iPhone and PC.

How far can I drive a Nissan LEAF in a single full charge?

There are two battery options available on the new Nissan LEAF - 40kWh (LEAF) and 62kWh (LEAF e+). The 40kWh battery provides a 168-mile range and the 62kWh will give you a 239-mile range. Depending on your driving needs, there is a Nissan LEAF for you.

Are there any ways to extend your range?

Driving using the e-Pedal allows you to extend your range. Single pedal driving aids regenerative braking, returning power from the brakes to the battery.

What factors can affect the range I get from my LEAF?

The range (the distance you can drive between charges) can be affected by the way you drive:

  • Speed: hard acceleration, or too much slow driving and speeding up, reduces battery performance. To maximise your range, try to keep driving smooth and steady.
  • Driving style: more speed uses more energy, meaning you will have to charge more often, increase the time between charges with Eco Mode or B mode regenerative braking.
  • Topography: pulling your car uphill takes more energy than driving on the flat. But the good news is that when you drive back down, you can recover energy.
  • Weather conditions: The temperate affects your battery’s capacity and the energy you use to heat and demist your car.

Does using the heating system or the air conditioning reduce the range of the vehicle?

Using the hearing or air conditioning system impacts the distance you can cover, but you can use an intelligent system that allows you to heat or cool your Nissan LEAF while the battery is being charged. When you’re connected to your home-charging system or a public charging point, the electricity to power the heating/cooling system comes directly from the power grid and not from your lithium-ion battery, so your range will not be affected.

DRIVING EXPERIENCE

Does the Nissan LEAF have one-pedal driving?

Yes. The Nissan LEAF features the e-Pedal which lets you accelerate and brake in one smooth motion. It’s lots of fun, and also enhances regenerative braking. You can go back to driving with two pedals at the flip of a switch.

What are the benefits of driving the Nissan LEAF?

The 100% electric LEAF emits zero emissions, which means you'll never have to buy fuel again! On top of that, it's very quiet, with a spacious interior, it's very comfortable and there are plenty of gadgets for you to explore and enjoy!

How fast can an electric LEAF go?

The Nissan LEAF can reach a top speed of 98 mph.

  • Nissan LEAF 0 to 62mph acceleration: 7.9seconds

  • Nissan LEAF e+ 0 to 62mph acceleration: 7.1seconds

Is it easy to keep track of battery level and range?

Yes, the in-car computer display will monitor this for you. The NissanConnect EV, which allows you to turn your LEAF on to charge, turn on the climate control and monitor the battery level and range is available to download on Android, iPhone and PC.
