What components of your vehicle should be regularly serviced?
- Oil levels - Oil allows your engine to run smoothly. Old oil can be unclean and effect the MPG, emissions and efficiency of your car.
- Tyre pressure & condition - If you drive quite a lot, then it's very important to check your tyres are of safe quality and adhere to legal limits.
- Spark plugs - Many garages recommend replacements every 30,000 miles, but it all depends on the models, how you drive and and the condition of the other parts surrounding the spark plug.
- Air filters - This can be easily checked and replaced, and the air conditioning could also be regassed at this point.
- Brake system - Brakes should regularly be checked to maintain peace of mind for the safety of the car.
- Electronics - Modern cars are PACKED with electronic gadgets, during a service any electronics can be checked to ensure they are running as they should.
Does your car NEED to be serviced?The short answer is, technically, no, as it is not a legal requirement. However, we would recommend having an annual service completed as it keeps your car in top condition and allows your vehicle to maintain its value.
To make a service more affordable, you can take out servicing plans with many dealerships. A car service plan can be set up with your local dealership or garage. For a fixed monthly rate or one annual payment, a driver can gain a set number of servicing appointments for their vehicle.
