Manchester Community Project Scores With West Way

With support from West Way and City in the Community, an inspiring community sports project has been given brand new football kit to support their development. The Sharks Community Trust programme, gives young people from the Greater Manchester area the opportunity to develop their education and life skills. As well as multi sport activities, the young people take part in a regular football tournament to keep them active and develop their teamwork skills, which West Way, in Chancellor Lane, Ardwick, take them to with loaned X-Trails. But Dealer Principal David Gordon wanted to do more, and when the trust — the charitable arm of Sale Sharks rugby club — came to him asking for help in getting a smart football kit, he knew what to do. He said: “I’ve been a Manchester City season ticket holder for more than 20 years. I got in touch with their charity, City in the Community, and because of their community roots, they wanted to help support local people and donate some kit to the team. “The young people now look like the real deal when they play. We’re so happy to have been able to link up these two amazing organisations.” City in the Community ambassador and former City star, Alex Williams MBE officially handed over the kit at the dealership. Alex said: “Manchester City is proud of its community heritage and as we mark 30 years in the community, it’s nice to be able to support local good causes that are also making a difference through the power of sport. Hopefully, these new kits will inspire the team and we wish them the very best of luck in their future competitions.”
